Drive With Us At Mercer Transportation
The Strength of Our Partnership
As a strategic partner proudly leased to Mercer Transportation, we leverage the massive logistical infrastructure of a national carrier established in 1977. This unique model allows us to provide the personal respect and direct communication of a small business while offering our customers the stability and power of Mercer’s extensive network. Our goal is to serve as a true partner to our customers, ensuring their cargo is transported safely and efficiently.
Pay and Benefits: Stop Chasing Pennies Per Mile. Earn a % of the Gross.
We completely ditch the outdated cents-per-mile model. When our fleet makes money, you make money. We offer top-tier percentage pay with total transparency
- Exceptional Weekly Earnings: Our drivers earn an average of $1,500 to $2,000 per week.
- Gross Percentage Payout: Earn a base of 27% to 30% of the gross revenue on every single load.
- Premium Equipment: We provide well-maintained, late-model Kenworth T680 trucks ready to hit the road.
The Independent Contractor Driver Advantage
When you drive as a 1099 Independent Contractor Driver, you gain access to massive tax breaks that standard W-2 company drivers can not claim.
- The 20% Small Business Deduction (QBI): Because you are legally operating as an independent business, you qualify for the IRS Section 199A Qualified Business Income Deduction. This allows you to deduct up to 20% of your net trucking profits completely tax-free before your federal income tax is even calculated.
- The Per Diem Deduction ($64/Day Net Savings): The IRS allows a special daily allowance for food and incidentals while away from home. As a 1099 contractor, you can legally deduct 80% of that total, giving you an automatic $64 tax write-off for every full day you are on the road—without needing to save a single receipt.
- On-the-Road Expense Write-offs: Unlike standard company drivers, your road life is a direct tax deduction. You can write off critical operational expenses directly on your Schedule C, including:
- Lower Taxable Income: By stacking your 20% small business deduction, your per diem, and all your road write-offs, you significantly reduce your taxable income. This strategy drops you into a lower tax bracket, ensuring you bring more money home to your family.
The Elite Open-Deck Division: Real Trucking. Real Revenue.
Pulling open-deck freight gives us direct access to the country’s highest-paying cargo, including machinery and industrial equipment. It is hard, physical work, but under our gross-percentage pay model, that extra effort translates directly into a much larger weekly settlement.

Precision at Every Mile: The BT Williams Strategic Advantage
At BT Williams Truck Lines, we believe that elite logistics requires more than just moving trailers—it requires a sophisticated command of the road. Our dispatch service is powered by our proprietary Direct Freight Routing System™ (The DFR System) and is designed to integrate seamlessly with the nationwide Mercer Transportation network, providing you with the power of a carrier that has been a leader since 1977.
The DFR System™: Intelligence in Motion
Unlike standard dispatching, The DFR System is built on proactive efficiency and proprietary routing frameworks. Our coordinators utilize this framework to:
- Maximize Revenue-Heavy Lanes: We leverage market data and DFR modeling to target high-paying open-deck lanes, keeping your equipment profitable.
- Minimize Deadhead: Our system focuses on pre-planning reloads and optimizing backhaul parameters to keep your wheels turning and earning.
- Customized Preference Modeling: We configure our regional preferences—such as Area 2 West versus Area 6 South—directly into the DFR System to align with our business goals.
Seamless Mercer Integration
Your operations are backed by the massive logistical power of Mercer Transportation, an “Irregular Route Carrier” that offers freight options across the entire United States, Canada, and Mexico.
- Network Synergy: While we manage your day-to-day routing through the DFR System, you benefit from Mercer’s diverse customer base, ranging from major corporations to government and military entities.
- Compliance & Safety: Our system is designed to satisfy Mercer’s rigorous lease mandates and safety protocols, including log-audit proficiency and strict ELD monitoring.
- Specialized Logistics: We are experts in managing high-stakes freight, including Department of Defense (DOD) shipments that require strict adherence to Standard Transit Time Guides and the Carrier Appointment System (CAS).
Expert Freight Coordinators: Your Personal Strategic Partners
Our coordinators are highly trained logistics specialists who provide the personal touch of a family-owned business with the backing of a national network.
- Exclusive Dispatch Orientation: Our team handles the heavy lifting of sourcing and booking loads exclusively through our internal team, ensuring you never have to deal with public load boards.
- Agent Negotiations: We manage all negotiations with agents and brokers, prioritizing rate transparency and providing full visibility into rate confirmations.
- Proactive Conflict Resolution: If an issue arises at a shipper or receiver, our coordinators step in immediately to resolve disputes, protecting your time and professional reputation.
